Is it too late for us to say Happy New Year?

When should you stop wishing people a happy new year? Do you have a cut-off? I think it’s nice to wish people a happy new year the first time you see them after 1st January. But let’s be real about it – there has to be a cut-off otherwise; we'll be saying happy new year until Easter! So, James and I have agreed that our cut-off is the end of January.

Happy new year from us!
Happy new year from us!

We had a blast over Christmas and New Year, seeing both restaurants filled with happy, smiling faces – from Santa breakfasts at The Oaks in Whisby, to singing carols on Christmas Eve in the West End at The Sycamore. Both venues were packed with festive parties, and seeing in 2025 with you all was brilliant, even if we only got about three hours of sleep between saying goodbye to the partygoers and greeting the early morning dog walkers with coffee first thing on New Year’s Day.

We must admit, though, we also enjoyed being able to squeeze in some downtime to recover, recharge, and fill our hearts with our family and friends over the Christmas period, and we hope you did too. Now that we’re well into January - and only a week or so away from our ‘happy new year’ cut-off - what does 2025 hold for The Oaks and The Sycamore?

Well, we hope to continue being your go-to place when you want to catch up with a friend, have a birthday lunch, or gather your whole family around the same table. Whether you want to book out the whole venue, or hire Nancy’s, the private dining room at The Sycamore (more about Nancy’s story coming later this year), just get in touch. Alongside our usual events, we've also been planning a few new ventures for 2025, but you'll have to wait a bit longer for those to be revealed.

In the meantime, we want to say thanks for a cracking 2024, thanks for supporting all that we do, and thanks for making our cafes the buzzing places you know

and love, where you come for the food and stay for the vibes.

Happy new year! We hope 2025 is a belter for you!

Love, Jamie & James x
