We thought that we would create a corner of the website to introduce ourselves to you so that you feel more at home in our restaurants and apartment.
So, we are Jamie and James. We have been together for 11 years and have been back in Lincoln now for three years. James (for those to whom it is not obvious) is Irish, a Dubliner, who has worked the whole of his life in hospitality, from opening restaurants for Marco Pierre White in Dublin, serving dinners on Circular Quay in Sydney whilst watching the boats go under the Harbour Bridge, to working at the Hawksmoor steakhouse in London. He is a hospitality whizz and has a very unique gift for making everyone feel at home. He has taken to life in Lincoln like a duck to water and now considers it his home.
Jamie, on the other hand, is a nurse by background, escaping to Sheffield to do his nurse training in the late ’90s, with 25 years of healthcare experience, working with brain injuries and, latterly, intensive cares around the world, from London to Sheffield, Australia to Dublin. But, like many healthcare workers, the dreaded Covid finished him off, putting the final nail in the career of another nurse. We then decided to pour our hearts into making The Oaks, The Sycamore, and The Treehouse places where everyone can sit back, relax, and let us do the cooking.
We love to travel and to experience food and wine from around the world, and we believe that this has fuelled our passion for great food but even better service because it creates memories; we can still remember the night we visited our wedding venue in Italy and drank limoncello under the stars. That’s why we always have a bottle on hand in The Sycamore to share and toast the end of a good night and welcome new friends.
Our experiences in life shape us into the people we are today, and we hope you can feel the love, care, and attention we put into all our venues to make you feel at home with us.
This is our dog Trigger, he is the reason why all of our venues are dog friendly!
